Life#
Şaban Rüştü Efendi was born in Tirana (Tiran) in 1881/82 (AH 1299) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a tradesman (esnaf). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Şaban Rüştü also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 21, in 1903/04, Şaban Rüştü began work in Bitola (Manastır), paid from the start, on 250 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1903/04, places Şaban Rüştü in Bitola as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru), where the entries run to 1905/06. The last post was in Sidirokastro (Demirhisar) in 1906/07.
