Life#
Kamil Efendi was born in Kayseri in 1875/76 (AH 1292), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, and the father's occupation was "Duyunu Umumiye Baskatibi". Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Work began in Kayseri in 1894/95, at about 19, with six unpaid years as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 300 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1900/01, with Kamil as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Kayseri, the birthplace. The last posts were in Ankara and Konya from 1901 to 1906 and Sarise in 1906/07.
