Life#
Born in Sofia (Sofya) in 1875/76 (AH 1292), Süleyman Sırrı Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Süleyman Sırrı had 12 years of schooling, at Darüşşafaka, the school for orphans in Istanbul, attended the telegraph school as well, and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Work began in Izmir (İzmir) in 1893/94, at about 18, paid from the start, on 400 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1893/94, places Süleyman Sırrı in Izmir as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru). The annual lists then follow Süleyman Sırrı to Sirkeci from 1894 to 1901. The last posts were in Galata from 1901 to 1906, with a rise to Mandapost Memuru.
