Life#
Mustafa Hulusi Efendi was born in Bergama in 1873/74 (AH 1290) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a tradesman (esnaf). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Mustafa Hulusi also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Mustafa Hulusi began work in Nablus in 1895/96, at about 22, paid from the start, on 300 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1895/96, places Mustafa Hulusi in Nablus as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru), where the entries run to 1897/98. The last post was in Bursa in 1898/99.
