Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1870/71 (AH 1287) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, Hüseyin Mehasin Efendi was the child of a telegraph director (telgraf müdürü). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Hüseyin Mehasin also wrote French as well as Turkish.
At about 22, in 1892/93, Hüseyin Mehasin began work in Konya, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1892/93, with Hüseyin Mehasin as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Konya, where the entries run to 1899/1900. The last posts were in Beyoğlu from 1900 to 1907.
