Life#
Ali Rıza Efendi was born in Skopje (Üsküp) in 1884/85 (AH 1302) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Schooling took four years, at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
At about 19, in 1904/05, Ali Rıza began work in Bresova, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. From the first annual entry, for 1904/05, to 1906/07, every annual entry places Ali Rıza in the same post, communications official (Muhabere Memuru), in Kosova.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 200 kuruş a month in 1904/05, as Muhabere Memuru in Kosova, when 8 per cent of paid officials earned less.
