Life#
Ahmet Kamil Efendi was born in Kastamonu in 1878/79 (AH 1296), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, and the father's occupation was "Askeriye Erzak Memuru". Schooling took 12 years, at Darüşşafaka, the school for orphans in Istanbul; Ahmet Kamil also attended the telegraph school, wrote French as well as Turkish and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Work began in Istanbul in 1895/96, at about 16, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. From the first annual entry, for 1895/96, to 1905/06, every annual entry places Ahmet Kamil in the same post, official for foreign communications (Muhaberat-ı Ecnebiye Memuriyeti), in Beyoğlu.
