Life#
Musa Efendi was born in Arapgir in 1866/67 (AH 1283), into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Musa also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Work began in Aydın in 1889/90, at about 23, paid from the start, on 185 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1889/90, places Musa in Aydın as a sergeant (Çavuş). From 1890 to 1896 the annual entries place Musa in Izmir (İzmir), first as a travelling postal official (Seyyar Memur), from 1895/96 as a postal official (Posta Memuru).
